When the sedating fabric of pre-dawn,
Underlying the sounds of early morn
Slips and slides wordlessly into one’s heart,
Night’s turbulent echoes have to depart.
Darkness is forever sucked up by light
Phantoms vanish without struggle or fight
If as mute witnesses we watch their play
Wisdom’s aurora will brighten each day.
Life’s roller coaster dips, turns, falls, rises;
Never at rest, it is full of surprises
Launched on its trips as it careens and tilts
Gripe through the ride or delight in its thrills
You cannot alight at your own will
When your time comes it will stand still
To disgorge you and take some other on
In your dusk will rise another’s dawn
