Smile Makes All the Difference

A smile makes all the difference,
tenderness, beauty and grace
as if gems from great depths
of an ocean suddenly surface

Or as if a sun rises to bring
an end to a long dark night,
or all of a sudden a dead tree
is overloaded with lovely flowers

Or in the desert sky rainclouds
raise a storm and come down in showers,
or a river dry over years is flooded
leaving the startled boatman in awe and fear

A smile makes all the difference,
the magic of music of innocence,
spreading from a kid’s eyes
percolates into the pores of everyone’s inner space

Moon is the smile on night’s serene face,
dawn is the smile on the banks of the earth and heaven,
lotus is the smile dancing with the ripples on the pool’s cool surface
and in my life your smile makes all the difference
