Theme: Guilt

Glimpses

I caught a quick glimpse of you,
this morning as you walked by...
it was just a fleeting one,
yet I was left quite appalled.
You seem to have diminished
visibly in size, your hair
once well groomed, now looks unkempt!

Are you alright, dear lady?
I hope it's just my own eyes,
deceiving me and that you
are the same person I knew.
I had not the strength of mind,
to call out your name, I feared
you'd ignore me and walk off!

I realise I've not been,
the person you thought I was.
I had left you to struggle,
While I lived in luxury.
But, if you would forgive me
I would love to make amends,
Mother, you live in my heart!
