How I wish to say my prayers
Which are sweet and light
In style singsong,
Yet making sense
With words that matter,
And have sounds sweet,
Convey a kindly intent
Of what is right and wrong,
Touching the heart and soul
And leave nothing for guess any
By me or Him, or those around!
I wish those lyrics hit
The nail on the head
In songs lilting, and lifting
My losing memory
In softer syllables for words,
As also pleasing the eye and ear
On lips of any articulation
With lines that breathe in and out
In ease, indoors or out
By one and all together
In diverse tongues and colors—
A la an anthem of the world.
Might not be a movie number
Or make it to poetry sessions;
Why not I write one such
Albeit sent to hell for that?
