She rose high in the sky
A Mastani dancing delicately
Amongst dragons and monsters
Elephants, tigers and horses
That rose to challenge each other
And the winds.
Then she caught an envious eye
"How dare she!
How dare she go past us?
Higher than us?"
And the battle ensued in earnest
All against one.
Strings reeled and pulled
As Mastani turned and twisted
She was out of their grasp
But her jeevan dor was not
Finally a canny twist and sharp pull
The gloating over, the
Floating descent to an unknown grave
No one heard the death cry.
