It matters not: what matters never passes.
that something matters is the cause of time;
yet life is short, what matters is sublime,
defeating of the age, and it surpasses
all expectation, above a catharsis
as if revealing all - this but a rhyme
in history's unravelling, a chime
of the greater clock that makes one think 'Ours is
the final age!' And so it proves for each:
the fact that every man lives once the same
humanity; and with a mind to reach
fulfilment of the present that each name
indwells, continuing always to preach
humanity eternity will frame.
