Grandma, I Love You

As she tucked me into bed,
Turned off the light and said "night",
I would take it for granted.

Today as I look back to
The years she was alive,
I wish I had treated her
Respectfully and polite.

It's hard to remember now,
Her four-year fight to survive.

It's hard to remember now,
The warm protected feeling
Of telling her, "I love you."
