Theme: Peace

Ocean of Bliss

ocean1.jpg

The Ruler asked an artist
to sketch a picture of peace

The artist painted two…
one with serene lake, tall peaks,
clear blue sky and birds in flight;
the other with rugged mountains, dark sky, lightning
threatening, foamy waterfall
ready to engulf all in its path.

The Ruler almost chose the first picture,
on second glance, he observed that
behind the waterfall was a huge rock -
from a crevice within, a shrub had grown,
in it a nest on which sat a bird, in total peace
oblivious to all the din and bustle.

With the wisdom of the Ruler
if the artist within us operates,
not giving much thought to the pandemonium
by which we are constantly engulfed
we can merge into the Ocean of Bliss!

Comment I really loved this poem. Good work. But, if I may say so, the last stanza could have been left unsaid. It is very much there in the silent bird of the third.
