Autumn Leaves

leaves1.jpg

As these autumn leaves are blown behind me
Into the clutching arms of history;
I stop and recall long forgotten memories;
Of people, friends and places seen
That cry out to live again.

That long to be evergreen.

With a shrug of my shoulders I walk on;
Indifferent to their abject cries.
Oblivious that, in a time to be;

I will become just another autumn leaf.
