The sound of guns Could be heard everywhere There would be no peace For both the young nor for the old Shivering out there in the cold Even in the dark and dank air-raid shelter People just ran helter-skelter Fears and tensions rose high As military flares lit up the sky It was not a firework display Just a serious attempt to keep the enemy at bay The aged and children were readied for flight While the other citizens would only moan their plight Nothing seemed remotely right With neighboring countries determined to fight This exchange of gunfire when done Will then go down in history As perhaps just another human catastrophe
