Bapu, thou wert so great in thoughts and politics indeed
So simple and serene with zenith of countless noble deeds
Born on the land of innocence long enslaved, cruelly ruled
Thou gave us the spiritual strings of love and peace’s beads
India had a free soul in the bodies of her loving countrymen
Thanks to thy patriotic cries for showering freedom’s seeds.
Bapu, now-a-days a lot has changed, ever since thou gone
In thy absence and prolonged grief the country sobs, bleeds
People now fear treading thy non-violence and truth’s path
They resort to any modus operandi catering to their needs
The sacrosanct altar of sacrament and democracy no more
Greed of corruption and anarchy stumbles us in their weeds.
