Theme: Death

The Grave

And so, once more I find myself
In this deserted cemetery.
On this stormy night, I stand alone
Again at the solitary grave.

And my bitter tears fall freely,
In tandem with the falling rain,
Staining the very ground at my feet;
Corroding the innocent earth beneath me.

The faded red roses that will bloom
No more, affix their once beautiful
And vibrant presence to a corrupted scene;

As the stench of their decay
Mingles with my guilt -
A sudden flash of lightning illuminates
The tombstone inscription:

'Here lies Edward Colman 1956-1991'.

And so, once more I find myself
Screaming in anguish;

Eternally lamenting the day I took my own life.
