White rulers divided us into Hindus and Muslims in Bengal in cunningness;
Bards like Rabindranath Tagore, Subramania Bharati,
Scores like them, and patriots Aurobindo
And thousands with like fervor fought and defeated their evil design;
But our brown leaders just for vote-bank politics
And to keep themselves and their kith and kin
In power “forever”;
Succeeded in dividing us into hundred and one communities
Making us fight one another “bitterly”
Without allowing us to feel as one family
And live in harmony and peace to build a strong nation
Seeing the religious preachers
Spreading superstition in the name of faith
And devilish nature in the name of God
And destroying humaneness
In human-beings
I am engulfed by fires of disquiet
But am not able to become Adi Shankaracharya
Observing the selfish leaders changing citizens into barbarians
In the name of caste, religion, region, language and ideology
I am shaking with anger
But not able to become
Another Chanakya
Noticing fellow countrymen and women in pains of poverty
And with lack of minimum amenities
And people without a square meal a day
Who are satisfying their hunger with tears;
My heart is melting and wrenched
But
I am not able to become The Buddha
The reason for my inability
Is
I am
I am
But there is hope for our great nation
When we act as one big family
And not as separate families
And strive for our emotional integration
And build an India of grand and peaceful Union
