My Tribute to Two Great April Indians

Sachin Tendulkar (24 April, 1973…), Cricketer – scored 100^th century on 16 March, 2012

What a man!
What a plan!
What a 100^th century!
Sachin’s created history!
With such grace and élan!

I absolutely fawn
Over this April born -
For his humility and dedication,
And the way he handles all adulation!
I salute Tendulkar – the sports icon!

Srinivasa Ramanujan, Mathematician (22 December, 1887 – 26 April, 1920) Year 2012 – his 125^th Anniversary

Ramanujan - the influential mathematician of 20^th century -
His ‘Conjectures’ contributed hugely to the Numbers Theory.
The mathematical legacy he left behind,
Is the genius of his brilliant mind.
His place – very special in Maths' history!

Tailpiece:
And it gives me some thrill
That I was born on 25^th April,
Between the birth and death dates
Of these two April greats!
Though their shoes, I can never fill…
