Theme: Secret

Nature's Secret

Beauty, by now we know,
lies in the eyes of the beholder,
shall we likewise believe
the sweetness of the notes
to lie in the ears of the listener?

Perhaps not,
the secret of this truth may go far deeper.

The pot may be made of pure gold,
the grains may be of a select brand,
water be from a sacred forest brook
and the man be a skilled royal cook,
yet the grains can never be cooked
unless in the hearth the firewood is lit.

The secret thus goes a step beyond…

Will the darkness ever vanish,
if we place a gem-studded lamp
on a golden stand, soak the silken wick
in the purest ghee; never and never.
Again we need the spark of fire
to light up the wick, the gloom to dispel.

We too are like pots,
we too are like golden lamps,
but the heart shall cook and light up
only when the fire of wisdom burns…

At the back of all that we see, all that we hear,
feel and touch, there lies therefore a secret – subtle and deep!

Comment Nature's secret is consisted in it's objects. Anyone who wants to know them ,he should go to shelter of nature as Wordsworth ,Keats or Coleridge. All sixth senses will satisfy and he feels bliss if he has a perceptive heart. Here you have mingled nature & other worldly objects in oneness,so the poem has become of some special importance.Thank you Mallick Ji.
