Theme: Devotion

Call Me

I am like Odysseus
on his longest journey home
except that my palace is deserted,
my queen is gone.

If there is life after death
how can I keep myself from her?
If beyond life there is nothing
then I cannot bear a cosmos
empty of her grace.

I see beauty every day
and wish for it to touch my heart
but my soul’s sight is veiled
by this dark pall
that drapes my world.

Call me and I'll come;
beckon and I'll follow.
There is nowhere but with you.
You are my beginning,
my middle and my end.
