Our little princess Ri Ri
Went on a Lion Safari.
A lion looked bored
When our Riya roared,
“Why aren’t you being savage;
Surprised to find us in a cage..?”
The lion glared
And let out a mild “ghrrrr…”
Ri Ri got scared
And clung to her mother!
Our Papakutty then went to a Zoo
Where she heard the Tiger mew..!
She asked, “Why are you so mild?”
He replied, “’cos dear, you’re a child!”
“Hi Riya”, said a monkey
“Oh hi” said RiRi.
Perched on a tree,
The monkey acted Referee
While Riya played throw-ball
With parents, pals and all!
She then saw a baby Elephant
Who looked so cute & elegant!
When his trunk he raised,
Our Ri Ri was quite dazed!
Then it was a nightingale
That went on to regale
With a song and a trill
That gave Riya a thrill!
It started to snow a bit.
Papa wanted a hasty exit...
And said, “Chikoo, let’s go”,
Riya exclaimed,”Oh no!
Papa, don’t be a bore,
Let’s stay some more!
Today’s my Birthday;
So, please do as I say!”
She jumped around for some time,
But the clime was no longer sublime.
Riya’s lips seemed to quiver
And her voice seemed to shiver.
She said, “Let’s go home to that cake
That I had seen Mamma bake!”
(Riya is my little grand-daughter and I wrote this one on her Birthday a few months back...)
