Chasing Away

(In memory of Uttarakhand/Kedarnath Victims 2013)

Thousands left home
Seeking Divine blessings
Another several thousands
Dwelled in proximity

The Sacred Place
Hit by monsoon
Washing away
Dear ones
Homes and Dreams

Sixty Thousand stranded
Police, Army, Air Force and Civilian
Brave hearts rescue
From man-made disaster
Wanton greed
How long will hold its sway?

The past taught us
Not to be optimistic
A soft state
Terrorists and Naxalites
Corrupt Politicians and Land Mafias
Enjoy a safe haven
And the plight of the commoners
Worsen by the day.

Comment Yes, this is truly heart-rending. None of us are yet able to really gauge the exact scale of the tragedy. The reality is a far greater number of victims than the official figure being put out there.

Comment You have described a pathetic scene of natural calamity in KedarNath. It is
always proved that man is helpless instead of nature even though he believes ,"I have won over the nature".In this way we can extract that human's life is temporary & full of uncertainty. What an unforgettable & heart rendering tragical event of this time ! God give peace those who have gone into the mouth of an accidental death. Thanks for writing on a true & fierce
disaster.
