Abandoned by my father!
Almost forgotten by my mother!!
To be remembered only as a money earner!!
Given up my childhood!
Made to slog for livelihood!!
Conveniently ignored by everyone!
Patiently waited for justice none!!
Still ardently praying to God!
For legislation to regulate and rights to safeguard!!

An issue very close to my heart has been poignantly portrayed ! Child labour is the curse of our country - major reasons being families (especially in the lower strata of society) with several mouths to feed and also lack of education and job opportunities...It is sad that the future of the nation is wasting away in child labour...Thanks for sharing this sensitively written poem, Sujatha.
