Twentieth August Two Thousand Thirteen
is Rakhi or Raksha Bandhan Day,
when an Indian girl puts a beautiful wrist band
on her brother's wrist.
It is an oath-taking day from a brother
to protect her sister at all costs,
a symbol of strong sibling relationship
of brotherly and sisterly love and affection.
And thus Swami Vivekananda in Eighteen Ninety Three
starts his address at the world religious congress at Chicago
with the never-heard-before words: Brothers and Sisters of the world,
symbolising true human international relationships
across all the religions and countries.
So, internationally, let us rename the Raksha Bandhan day
as BROther SISter Day,
in short, BROSIS Day.
