Theme: Pain

Masters

Facing pain...
all complain
Unable to bear...
cry out in vain
Given a choice
tend to refrain...
or
get pushed down...
to the victim's domain
But the truly wise
willing to rise
choose to get on
the flights of pain
on their journey...
to a higher plane.

Comment The lyrical idealism of 'the truly wise' must include being truly stoic that I defy anyone who has had a toothache commencing a weekend with no hope of relief but a painkiller to claim. Interestingly, our upbringing is based on achieving ideal states, of manhood or womanhood, and although we fall short of these, without them we would be without a moral compass. To convert our beliefs in achievement of ideal states into fact, we invent people like 'the truly wise', particularly, posthumously, whereby a Christ, Buddha, Mohammed, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Mandela or JFK are identified as achievers of these ideal states, a fair percentage of whom are assassinated.
