A Tapestry Poem by Padmavathy Settuluri and Padmaja Iyengar
Looking Beyond Perspectives – Point by Padmavathy Settuluri
Flying to a new nation can be fun,
Where I could learn as well as earn,
And fulfil the dreams I have spun!
I look forward to the overseas exposure,
To the new environs and a novel culture,
Where I can lead an adventurous lifestyle
And be walking that extra challenging mile...
In the new land, I foresee a new role,
That enables me to accomplish my goal!
Looking Beyond Perspectives – Counterpoint by Padmaja Iyengar
A new land and new environs - a goal?
I believe in India, I have a bigger role,
That broadens my horizon as a whole
And provides fulfilment to my soul!
Oh, do I need challenges offshore,
Where I don’t know what’s in store,
Whereas India offers me a lot more?
To India, that’s gifted me high education,
I owe my unswerving and total dedication.
Looking Beyond Perspectives - Points and Counterpoints - Tapestry by Padmavathy and Padmaja
Flying to a new nation can be fun,
Where I could learn as well as earn!
I believe in India, I have a bigger role,
That broadens my horizon as a whole.
I look forward to the overseas exposure,
To the new environs and a novel culture.
A new land and new environs - a goal?
When India provides fulfilment to my soul?
There, I can lead an adventurous lifestyle
And also walk that extra challenging mile...
Oh, do I need challenges offshore,
Where I don’t know what’s in store,
Whereas India offers me a lot more?
To India, that’s gifted me high education,
I owe my unswerving and total dedication.
In the new land, I foresee a new role,
That enables me to accomplish my goal
And fulfil the dreams I have spun!
Poets’ Note:
With great respect, we acknowledge and reiterate that Tapestry Poetry is an innovative and a new genre of poetry, pioneered by Avril Meallem and Shernaz Wadia. Here, like in our last Tapestry Poem effort, we have attempted (and will continue to do so) to give a new dimension and a twist to Tapestry Poetry by presenting a point by one poet and a counterpoint by the other poet. We have then, put together the point and counterpoint in the Tapestry format. Sometimes (if possible), we will find a meeting point for the contrasting views ... And sometimes, maybe not..!
Just as a tapestry can be woven in contrasting colours and patterns, we are trying to weave together contrasting viewpoints... We hope, we succeed in this challenging endeavour... |
