Having pledged to meet at the old school gate,
Anxiously they hurried, trying not to be late.
Two parted friends met on a wintry morn
One sported tresses, other's was shorn.
Exchanging 'hi' 'hello', friends giggled in amusement.
'You look so lovely still', 'O’ you’re still the same!'
As they jogged together down the memory lane
They laughed and talked of gathered up tales.
They shared their hits-n-misses, pains and fears,
Recalling bygone goodies brought only tears.
Old tales told how they became their husband’s wives
New experience of becoming mothers gave them pride.
Characters of wonderland as if emerging out of books
They both examined each other with silent curious looks
Till it seemed to them they've nothing more to fear
For they seemed to have met after not even a year.
Having tasted after really long the blissful elixir,
Both uttered warm cheers to an eternal amity dear.
Emotions spewing out, with tearing thoughts they parted
The setting sun became a witness to the promise of a new tryst.
