I raced towards the stars,
My life forfeit,
To catch up to you
But Life dragged me back
To remain apart from you.
I watched a cloud
Against an azure sky
And saw it split in two.
Each part remained until the dusk
settled into night's dark blue.
Your kookaburras called me
And I stepped out naked
Onto our balcony.
The morning star, cold, aloof,
Bore witness to my reverie.
I saw you dance
On a cloudy meadow,
The sun shining through your hair
As your feet lightly stepped
A forever dance on air.
The pipes trilled a lively tune
Calling all to join your dance.
My heart was filled with light
As I sprang up
And all was glad and bright.
No time for tears my love,
This tune will carry me on
Until in glorious dawn light
Once more I will dance
And the world will be put aright.
