Breathing: alive,
You are breath;
Food: life,
You, that food;
When away,
A living presence
in aching absence;
Therapy, in depression;
Now: You are beyond all these essentials
Of grim existence on a crowded,
Polluted, degraded planet -
My lady beautiful,
A calming internal landscape;
You have evolved and become
Over the long struggling decades,
Consciousness and
Aesthetics, uplifting,
Hope that cheers up
All this and more
To a sensitive
Battered heart;
Priceless YOU,
Like an angry Picasso
In a war-ravaged world,
Still cautioning, from a museum slot, mad dictators
And power-hungry elites.
Thanks Padmaja for finding echoes from the current history that is inimical to the female gender. Remain grateful.

Ah, this one, to me, felt more like a tribute to Aruna Shanbaug, the battered nurse who lies in a vegetable state in KEM Hospital Mumbai for more than three decades now...and many more such nameless, faceless (acid attack victims) women. Thanks for sharing.
