There was a time
when a king would over-run a neighbourly kingdom
and be a usurper-king.
Of course, he would carry out the act
with his soldiers,
who were on the king's payroll.
Many would die
in the process.
The usurped kingdom's
soldiers and civilians
too would be killed.
The more brutal the act,
the chances of the over-running king
would be grander.
Compare this with modern democracy.
A Prime Ministerial or a Presidential candidate
does not kill with a sword.
He will bleed with his words
other contenders.
Speeches, roadshows,
media splashes by him and his cohorts
will bleed even the voters
by allegations
and counter allegations.
Only a few violent acts of political workers
may take a few lives.
Surely, we have evolved.
A war that has gone virtual.
But none-the-less a war still.
