Rescue Mission

Being an ever blinkered horse,
How can I now change course?
Life has thrown up a situation,
That is more of an aberration.

My patience is tested to its brim,
To sink is better or should I swim,
In unchartered waters quite deep,
And still manage to my sanity keep?

I have to take some decisions tough,
Proving I am made of sterner stuff,
To not digress from the path chosen,
Flight of fancy - checked and frozen.

My scarf’s fallen on a thorny plant,
Extricate it whether I can or can’t,
Will depend very much on my skill,
Of manoeuvring and abundant will.

A momentary lapse, a sudden slip,
Can send lives spinning into a flip.
Firmness of stand, oneness of mind,
Alone can help me to a solution find.

Now, that scarf settled on the thorn,
Cannot afford to get pulled and torn.
Let me stay focussed to extricate it,
Slowly, gently, sensibly, bit by bit...

Comment Padmaja,

You have a talent for laughing at challenges life throws at you,
and knitting a story out of them. A very well-composed verse, like a bubbling brook.
