Football skills raise stadiums cheek by jowl
with shanty towns, no contradiction seen
because the sums are right; in the event, all
rises to occasion, the future goal
thunders as it happens, builds in between.
These things hark back to Christ’s own words: ‘The poor
you have with you always’ when precious scent
lavished filled the room; technology’s door
opens life to a dimension that’s more
of hope for all, the poor can see content.
