Some Relationships

Not a step fully in
Not a step fully out
Neither midway path
Often tight-rope walk

Speak if spoken to
Each word weighed
Carefully considered
Eye contacts avoided

Smiles are out
Lips pursed
Better zipped
Eyes downcast

Mind scared to think
Heart scared to beat
Eyes scared to see
Tongue tied in knots

Shadowy existence
Living out a curse
Moving in mimes
Communication terse

Tension mounts
Blood pressure shoots
Pulse rate races
Silence deafens

Pressure cooker whistles
And lets out steam....
