I awoke one morning: a dull saying:
let me rather say, it was a morning full
of neighbours’ back-gardens - I hardly ever
look this way: I usually make each look
a study: let me say, I fell down drowsing
from this lofty desk, my head spinning with
random blood; and pools formed before my eyes.
Those pools focused to something different.
Then I recalled! A free packet of sunflower seeds.
Sisters like Swedes to the giant story beanstalk
they'd grown, like Disney cartoons - they had that flair:
And the blooms! - that drew a trite comparison:
dinner-plates! Yes, and they hang there still,
having hooked the world like a fairy tale!
