Theme: Death

Dad

il_340x270.613634952_s7ao.jpg

A brave soldier he was, my loving dad, the real hero
brought teddy bears and chocolates to make me happy
war stories, however, excited me much
I too was a war-hero in my dreams
a few I recollect though I was four then

Many he killed for the nation, are numberless
never had I expected one day he too would be downed by one
too small I was but it was a rainy Sunday I remember
a big crowd around the house
cried all, sympathy and helplessness too

Sobbing and crying of my mom I still can't forget
"Dad is sleeping", she embraced me
and pointed towards a big wooden casket
everyone cried, I too, never understood why

A portrait appeared on the wall suddenly
she did it, my elder sister to console all

One day I asked her, "When would dad come and give me a huge hug?"
She said nothing, I could only see a river of tears in her eyes

I now bury my face in the pillow, brooding
I miss him badly, hug, presence
I too have a dream to be a real-life hero like him

Comment Very heart touching poem.Everyone is helpless in this matter that he has to lose his or her dad someday. We can''t do anything against God''s will.
It is our fate.We must take his unfulfilled works &
complete them.It will good service to him.A lot of
thanks for heartfelt emotions Alex Ji.

Comment A very nostalgic and heart touching poem. Yes, we all miss the gifts, the sweets, the hugs and the loving touch. But we inherit all these to gift away to the next generation. The river of flows...
