Thorny Rose

A rose is beautiful Till it is beheld From afar; If held closely, It pricks the fingers Lo! Throes ajar..! Eyes weep not; Yet heart does bleed, For all its beauty Those in love plead. I want the rose, All spines and thorns, Prickles teach us Never to lock horns.

In her poem "Valentine" Carol Ann Duffy has used an onion as love 's represetation but one thing is common that sometimes pain and grief are the part of real love. .
