Decent Proposal

After travelling this far
and having learnt that passion
is so fleeting, so transient
Will you let me come close to you
for some time?
For I know
I'm not the only man in your life
nor will ever be.

That love comes once in a lifetime
I know is a lie
But it's true that when it happens
it surely doesn't die
That's why I seek
no commitment
of lifetime togetherness
For I know
I'm not the only man in your life
nor will ever be.

You know the truth
the transience of beauty and youth
And you possess
that dangerous combination
experience, beauty, intelligence
That's why I want to be
one of your men
come close to you for sometime
knowing
I'm not the only man in your life
nor will ever be.

Now this is something that intrigues me, and I love the desire expressed by the poet to grab the moment with her...in full knowledge of the reality...Very very intriguing...
