An extraordinary visitor
Threatened to be at our doorstep anytime
Patiently waited with baited breath
Hudhud, bird in Omani
Arrived around eleven Sunday morning
Fury lashed out in all its glory
Nature’s elements all out in fierce fury
My little pet nowhere to hide his fear
And, I, in panic and confusion
Watched our vast shaded tree keel over
Gently it did to protect us from furious wrath
Never to forget, in empathy, were we
Through shadows of life beneath its cool temperament
In finite solace its dying moments
Our tree left protecting us from disastrous perish
My tree, my pet, my heart
Discern parting pain
Hudhud flew away preying on rain
Drenching us forever.
