Old Age 'Domes'

Free falls
Paradigm shifts
Order of this festive present!

Old age homes an easy concept
Not ours to begin with
We grew clever very fast

Even a few morsels are maintenance
For the decrepit old here
Father, mother, or both
Children never thought otherwise
Gave them all that they could

Now, children grown up
Buxom and blithe
Married abroad or at home
Stay far
Suggesting Old Age Homes

OAHs are unaffordable to the State
A measly thousand even for two
Some are denied even that
Brought up children
Fists clenched
Ask questions

'I never asked you to bring me here!’
‘Why me, the moneyed more are there!’
A meagre dole is mercy
Can I be so heartless?
Shall I give you uncle’s phone number?
Or call him myself?

What to call this, a free fall?
Or a paradigm shift?

Comment Many encounter relations slowly decaying -old age
must know to sustain cheers even if scary.

Comment At boarding school, I once said, 'I feel like an old man.' Old age homes are a return to boarding school.
