To distinguish
Between love
And friendship
I fail as the word
Love captures in it
A range of emotions
I love a few
Independent of their
Qualities and character
Indifference and distance
That separates me
From them physically
When they say of
Word of affection
I turn emotional
And shamelessly
Expect more of
Such expressions!
The taste lasts
Longer than one
Can imagine
Like the sweetness
Of nectar even after
Swallowing it!
I know I am mad
I know I am stupid
I am aware it’s transient
I just can’t retrieve
The heart I have
Lost to them
They belong to
The same sex
The age gap
Glares at me
The changing times
Laugh at my
Idiocy and incongruence
Distances separate
Time will make
These guys forget me
I know I am hapless
But, happy because
Nothing or none can rob
Their Sweet Memories
From me at any cost!
