The migrant crisis flashes red and green
in the public consciousness – prospect of
being overwhelmed now softened by the plight
of stranded thousands to compassion felt.
And in the green light is the cutting down
of time from the long perspective we cherished
to the opportune rule of principle
that asserts itself now as life’s long day.
The world is so much a projection of
our minds – it’s there the red lights flash, but green
is the temper of immediate acceptance
that is, after all, the reality.
At Fatima, long ago, the sun danced
in the witness of thousands, proving time
is not about process, the universe
mechanical, but cradles principle.
