They were having a convention like no
other: representation from all faiths
and every other variety of
persuasion, agnostic and atheistic.
It was announced that to limit discussion
that invariably talks about God in
the third person, which ends up going nowhere,
God would be present and might be approached
for a definitive resolution of
the problem of the nature of His presence.
Expectation was high, deniers held
their peace; and when announced, God appeared.
‘Where?’ cried all the theologians, ‘Not here!’
The atheists rejoined; shouts of, ‘What a waste
of time!’ and it reverted to the old
dispute; nothing new from God's point of view.
