Pouring in torrents
Pounding incessant
Rain God on a song
Not to stop for long
On course to break
The record in a streak
After a hundred years
That is what we hear
Anguish and cries all around
Across Chennai and beyond
Praying for the rains to stop
For normalcy to prop
Putting the life and city back
Once again on vibrant track
Heard a voice from sky
I haven’t come on a sly
searching for my dear
children fervently I rear
ponds and lakes all over
to fill the earth with love
