Theme: Dreaming

The Dreamer

The river is full
Fields are flooded
They are full too with young green paddies
By their side
Rows of ducks drift in slow rhythm
So drift the clouds in the blue sky
Over the forest, along the horizon
So in my lazy mind in the corner of the boat
This whole morning
Lazy thoughts are floating
Without any rhyme or reason
I don’t know why
From the faraway land of fairies
The shadow of someone
Floats with my long sighs.

Comment The Calcuttan Postmaster's love for the orphan village girl Tagore has not forgotten it with that of Chandalika's for Ananda, Kabuliwallah's for Minu and that of his for Kadambari Devi. A romantic, he finds solace in the lyrics of love, full of yearnings and aspirations. Somewhere it is love for Nirmala, somewhere for Chandramukhi. A dreamer of love, a lover of heart is romantic Tagore.
