Theme: Waiting

Clouds Upon Clouds

Clouds have gathered upon clouds
Darkness is falling
Why do you keep me waiting at my door?
On busy days I remain busy among people
Today I am waiting only for you
If you neglect me and don’t come
This rainy day how do I spend?
Looking far, I wait and wait
My mind only cries in these wet wild winds.

Transcreation of the song – Megher pore megh jomechhe andhar kore ashe – by Rabindranath Tagore. This is one of those very few songs which are available in recordings in Rabindranath’s own voice.

Comment You are absolutely correct about the inner meaning of the poem but like in a love poem the divine is the dearest one.
Mr. PK Majumder may have been known to me at one time but now in old age I am afraid I have forgotten him like many.

Comment Clouds Upon Clouds seems to be one of the poems included in Gitanjali. But the context is of waiting for the Divine and His silent steps. And here it is something different.
Whatever be that, it is a poem of waiting, earnest waiting and yearning, yearning from within.
Sir, there is one Pronab Kumar Majumder with whom I talked about you, who knows you as well as edits Bridge-in-Making, and this is by the way.
