Perhaps, it’s for the first time
In the history of this nation
That the common man is suffering
Yet the majority enduring the pain
And not resorting to protests or interventions
Through strikes, dharnas or processions.
Ironically, on the other hand
The privileged creamy lot of the nation
Politicians – self-styled messiahs of the land
Are crying foul and opposing it
Every tooth and nail, for a rollback
In the name of the same common man
Well, on the lighter side
The humour is floating around, that a
National bank and an insurance company
Have entered into a joint venture...
The former will pay the people
Who survive the queue
While the latter will make payments
For the ones unable to make it.
