While slipping down
From the cushioned bed of life
To the naked ground,
I find none to uphold me
From the big fall,
My falling body feels wrapped
In acute agony.
I keep failing and falling
Down and down
From a brightening dusk
To a dismal dawn
Through days' scorching heat
Till I feel her stretching arms.
The Earth upholds me in time
In her beauteous embrace
With a breath of fresh air
Nourishing my being in her marina;
Far from the madding crowds
I feel fondled and cuddled
Like a child pampered,
Sleeping in all peace and bliss,
Clinging to his loving mother -
On her serene soothing bosom...
