O, industrious little ant
Today, I almost trampled you
In my haste and hurry
I almost crushed you with my shoe
You do your work diligently
Quietly, without much ado
I am envious and in awe
I wish I was as tireless as you
I hope those who are callous
Those who became lazy as they grew
Can admire your work ethics
And your example they follow too
Dear little assiduous ant
In many respects I too resemble you
In my daily toil and chores
I too am trampled by many a shoe
Life throws many obstacles
But I know I have my duty to do
You taught me to expect nothing for it in return
Selfless hard work pays, as you always knew
