Ode To Mathematics

Thou art the purest of purity,
Yet thy features are bold and awe-inspiring
Like a shimmering lake atop a giant mountain
Resplendent in sweet flowers and grass and dew
And with power enough to shake this earth
By thy majesty and magnificence.

Oh cursed is the man that has never experienced thy beauty,
Never tasted thy sweetness
Never felt thy power
Never been intoxicated by thy presence
Never had the occasion to be mesmerized by thee
Nor the sublime pleasure in overcoming thee.

Thou art a marble place, emitting light,
A light so unearthly and yet so comforting!
A light married to reason and food to the intellect
A light that giveth happiness no less than music sweet
Oh thank you love, for this light, for this happiness,
May thou live forever, for without thee, the world dies.
