Deprived but not reactive,
Miserable yet tearless,
Moribund but fearless,
Strong but harmless,
Beautiful but charmless,
Dying hard but living,
Poor enough yet giving,
Stretching their palms,
Living on begged alms,
Doing all the hard labour,
Yet asking for favour,
To make both ends meet,
For a sleep in the street,
Queued for a bit of ration,
The lions of our nation,
Are living like sheep,
Dreaming in their sleep,
For a blissful tomorrow,
In self-inflicted sorrow. |
