Hiding somewhere over
Country’s length and breadth
Is a pretty yet mysterious girl
Her laughter causes rains
As she is laughing relentlessly
So it’s raining cats and dogs.
Now there is a gossip going around
She is pretty awfully amused with
The antics of Abdullah next door
Frenetic and hysterical about
The neighbour’s family welfare
Instead of taking own harem’s care.
It’s now closing September
People’s life and property are at stake
Pray someone would volunteer
In persuading her to stop laughter
Finding her soon would be better
Lest floods might cause disaster.
(This poem is inspired by social media humour. Ordinarily by this time in September, monsoon abates in India but the country is experiencing unprecedented rains in many parts causing disruption in life this year. At the same time, Pakistan’s present head has also created an unprecedented false propaganda campaign and war hysteria over Kashmir, creating tense yet comic situation nationally and internationally.)
