We walked together
Miles after miles;
That’s what I thought.
The afternoon was as pale as
The drying leaf, about to fall off.
You said, the hand I held
Was my imagination.
Spring had gone.
Summer I knew only,
When it burnt deep into my skin.
As I walk down into my memories,
Our words, with no ornaments, no clothes...
Bare bodies, naked,
So different they look now
In my mirror -
Craggy, hard, harsh, like rock
Beneath the layer of green,
With no tenderness.
Feelings once they carried
Had the depth of an ocean,
Now stand shallow.
Years have gone by....
I am in the middle of a road,
Stranded --
Do not know where to go. |
