The moon exists in silver in a black space
hollow is the generosity of winds,
the sky is pouring out unknown stars
looking to be noticed, the world is in a shell
fresh leaves are in heaps on the roadside.
Gone is the soft hum of the traffic,
sporadic rumbles of cars
phone calls are full of halos and tears
late night whispers have gone through
like a needle through a strand.
Absence of humans is stitched with twilight colour
light rain is dripping into the troughs
the insects are rustling in the groves
sparrows are now at work in the skylight
sending silent signals of life.
The scribbling of chalk is on the school gate
rabbits are drawn on the shutters of the old house
a tree erupts in white flowers,
newborn babies are casting out from the other world,
unvarnished smiles amplify all around.
