Apprehensive, grim
anxious, provoked
before retreating
earnestly invoke
the spirit of tranquility
adorned as Serenity

Her arrival proclaims
a sanguine calm
initiating intimacy
with caring warmth
Serenity transforms
into a soothing charm 

Undressing the Vexed
layer after layer
      of nefarious plots
      terrible thoughts
      panicked anxieties
      troubling worries
      brutes and monsters
      lurking in disguise
Serenity empowered  
consigns the rascals
to a certain thrash
as an unwanted trash

Melodiously singing
with teasing interludes
she lovingly embraces
envelopes and engages
stroking the Vexed deep
into an unruffled sleep

Sounds simple, yet introspect
in the commotion and fanfare
Anger, malice, and protest
occur almost as a daily affair
while vital arrival of Serenity
is, alas, predominantly rare

Restrain thus the conflicting mind
face squarely life’s daily grind
with courage, resilience, and grace
disallowing mystic Serenity to efface
